Gender equality and equity are gaining global recognition as crucial components of sustainable development. Not only are they recognised as fundamental human rights, but “gender equality” is also a prominent goal of the UN 2030 Agenda. As a research centre that bridges science and practice, our aim is twofold: to critically assess how gender is mainstreamed in development policy and to address the challenges faced during the implementation of practical development cooperation.
Our field research explores how social, economic, and ecological transformations affect gender relations. With numerous national and international research partnerships and long lasting experience in various socio-cultural contexts, our team focuses on topics such as the labour market, inclusion, sport, disabilities, empowerment, migration, human rights, and gender-based violence.
