Kurzbeschrieb
Numerous studies show that women with disabilities are at greater risk of experiencing gender-based violence in their lifetime than their peers without disabilities. Reasons for this higher prevalence of violence include discrimination, stigmatisation, negative cultural and religious beliefs, lack of knowledge about disability, increased vulnerability due to care needs, and impunity. This research project aims to investigate the multiple, interrelated, and recurring forms of violence faced by women with physical and sensory disabilities in Kathmandu, Nepal. In-depth qualitative interviews are used to delve into women's lived experiences of different forms of personal and structural violence and the effects of gender-based violence on their well-being and development.
