About us

The Interdisciplinary Centre for Gender Studies ICFG has existed at the University of Bern since 2001. Originally started as an initiative of a group of female professors, the ICFG under the direction of Prof. Dr. Brigitte Schnegg (*1953 - †2014) has grown to around 20 staff members within a few years and has established itself at the University of Bern. As an interfaculty centre, the ICFG is administratively assigned to the Rectorate of the University of Bern. Since February 2016, the centre has been headed by Prof. Dr. Michèle Amacker and Prof. Dr. Patricia Purtschert.
